Body Games

Jessica Clare

This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.

This was the first time that I had read a story written by this author and I thought it was very well written. Annabelle Tucker has been asked to come back to Endurance Island for a season that features all second time guests. Even though her first experience had not let her with good memories the money the producers were offering her convinced her to give the show another try. The chance to get the better of Kip, the guy that had used her during her first season also sweetened the pot.

This time Annabelle went with a personal strategy. She was going to concentrate on the game, use her wits and her skills to nail all the events and come out on top. That was her main goal and nothing was going to get in her way.

Now the show’s producers have a few tricks up their sleeve and the first one happens on the first day as all contestants are instructed to strip. Yep, the games are going to be played naked. Huh, this is going to be interesting. Up to six weeks are going to be spent on this beautiful island with only themselves to rely on for food and shelter.

Jendan Abercombie is also a contestant on this season and we begin each chapter with a quote that gives us his view point on what is happening. The two of them are attracted to one another but resist any kissing. There is plenty of hugging and caressing but anything else needs to wait until the games are over. She is not making that mistake again.

The games themselves were very interesting to read about. I am not a lover of reality game shows on TV so this was all new ground for me. I loved reading about the eating contest and my stomach was hurling along with everyone else. The idea of spending six weeks naked on an island and depending on only your survival skills was certainly great to read about. Imagine the bug bites and sun burns, I mean the sand would be getting everywhere. The lack of basic essential such as deodorant and toothpaste made for some funky reading. I found the story kept my interest and I was quickly turning the pages to see who got voted off next. I hated Kip from the beginning and was eagerly awaiting his demise.

I would rate this story a 4/5 and would be interested in reading more by this author. I believe this story to be a great read for all those readers that are looking for something a little bit different, a story with some depth, some mystery, adventure and of course a wee bit of romance thrown in.
