Gimme Some Sugar (Pine Mountain, #2)

Gimme Some Sugar (A Pine Mountain Novel)

Carly di Matisse has found herself both relocated and in the middle of a nasty divorce. She was part of a cooking team with her husband Travis but she caught him cheating on her and then he took all the credit for her culinary efforts. To save her reputation she accepts a job at the Pine Mountain restaurant "La Doce Vita."

During a particularly violent thunderstorm a large tree crashes into her back porch and thus she meets Jackson Carter, the contractor who is replacing the porch.

Even thought neither one of them is looking for romance the attraction is strong and instant. After a little bit of a mix up involving a girl pretending to be his girlfriend, they start a steamy relationship. They are so very sweet together, he feeds her PB & J sandwiches, plays Monopoly with her and holds her hand, calming her fears when she is afraid of the boat when they go fishing together. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them fall in love.

Now things are not going to be a walk in the park here, he has some serious hang ups about marriage and does not want anything long term. She is only in town temporarily until the dusk from her divorce settles and then she is planning to return to the city and resume her life.

Yeah right, love is kind of funny that way, just sneaks up on an unsuspecting couple. I am hoping that they both realize what a beautiful thing they could be together and give it a chance. I really enjoyed the writing style of this author. The story line was well defined and the characters nicely fleshed out. I loved how the secondary characters did play a large part in the story line, made for a better overall picture, it was easy for the reader to feel right at home in the story. I would rate this story 5/5 and would definately read more by this author.

The Professor's Pet

Emily McNamara has just gotten her PHD, after many years of hard work she is now Dr. Emily McNamara. However, the only sexual action she is getting these days in the company of her beloved Kindle.

That explains why she is devastated the one day when she grabs the wrong Kindle off the counter at the coffee shop. Even more embarrassing is the owner. He is sexy Professor Jake Ballard, his body the object of many fantasies but who is/ who was completely off limits while she was a student.

The Professor has also had a chance to glance over HER reading material. He is intrigued. "tonight, my house, 9pm"

And so the adventure begins, he takes her places emotionally and physically that she has only dreamed of, only read about.

Some weeks later after she moves away to her new job a chance meeting brings them together again. Seems he is going to be in her town every weekend for the next 8 weeks. They agree to spend this time together so that he can teach her more about the BDSM world. He is not looking for any type of committment and makes it clear on numerous occasions that 8 weekends is all that he has to offer.

Hailey is estatic to take whatever is offered to her and greedily learns everything that he teaches. They experiment in bondage, anal sex, butt plugs, nipple clamps and venture into a sex shoppe in order to push her boundries. It was very well done. Sure there was lots of sex, wild, dominating sex but the author did not let that overplay the budding love story here.

Hailey is falling in love, she is looking forward to friday and fantasing about what will happen. Jake is determined not to have any feelings for her. Interesting, let's see how that works out for him.

These two characteres were well fleshed out, the story was believable and moved along quickly. I would definately read more by this author. I would rate it a 4/5

After getting lost in the forest and hearing some rustling, thinking the worst- a large bear, but in all actuality probably only a much smaller animal, Hailey Genest and her friend Tori Burns decide that going on a hunting adventure was not their best idea. Thankfully they soon run into Matt Barnett, a Game Warden who has been vacationing in the woods. He is not a sight for sore eyes in his flannel shirt, disgusting fishing hat, overly long hair and unshaven face. Thankfully he knows the woods and has them led to safety shortly.

Hailey is a librarian and soon she is hosting an ATV safety course and surprise---- Matt is helping out. Only thing is now he has on clean clothes, freshly shaved face and a haircut. Yummy. She is still a little annoyed about him poking fun at them in their moment of need and the two of them continue to trade verbal jabs.

She is everything that he does not want. A city girl. He wants someone who is not afraid to get dirty, to have some honest fun. She prefers drinking wine, theatre and nice dinners. They are total opposites.

He rents the house next to her. Oh, Oh, that means a lot of contact and these two have some serious chemistry for not liking one another. She steals glances of him through her window, Damn he looks good shirtless. She brings him a sheppards pie to welcome him to the neighbourhood and stays to eat it with him.

Against all odds he takes her on a date. A 4:30 a.m. date to observe the moose. It was beautiful and they kiss. The kiss leads to more and soon they are storming up the sheets.

But he has alot of baggage. He has been hurt by a city girl before and is unable to get past it. She is willing to be his country girl if she can still partake in city things some of the time. A true relationship should be give and take right? Let's hope that Matt is able to comes to grips with his past, to let go and live his life. In the meantime I suggest reading this book. It was a really sweet story. I would rate it a 5/5 and would definately read more by this author.

THE WILDE ONE is the second novel in the spicy contemporary romance series about four sexy brothers, their small-town bar and their local country band. Each novel in the OLD TOWN COUNTRY ROMANCE series can be read as a STAND ALONE NOVEL or as part of the SERIES.

Tucker Wilde joined the United States Army right out of high school and was injured in Iraq. But more than just his leg was shattered in the Middle East. The war also crushed his spirit and damaged his soul. When a strange couple arrives at his family’s bar, Haymakers, Tucker can see signs of mental and emotional abuse and is immediately drawn to the lovely but fragile girl seated at his bar.

Gracie Parker has been a victim of abuse her entire life. When her boyfriend, Dex, beats her in the parking lot of Haymakers and abandons her, it’s almost too much for the nineteen-year-old to bear. That is until Tucker appears like a warrior knight from the darkness to save her.

Tucker and Gracie are two broken people who are immediately drawn together. But their relationship and even their very lives are threatened by Dex who will stop at nothing to get Gracie back.

If you like your trucks loud, your beer cold and your men'll love THE WILDE ONE.

This is the second story in the Old Town Country Romance Series. Both of them are very sweet country stories based on the boys of the Wilde Family leaving in Old Town running the local bar called Haymakers.

Tucker Wilde has serious self esteem issues. He was badly injured in Iraq and his leg is severely disfigured. He thinks that he is not worthy of being loved and has not been with anyone sexually since he came home.

Nineteen year old Gracie Parker is in a horrible situation. She was traded to her now boyfriend Dex as a seventeen year old to pay off her father's gambling debt. He treats her horribly and is both physically and mentally abusive.

One night changes things forever for these two wounded souls. Dex brings Gracie into Haymakers and then leaves her there after slapping her around. This brings out the protectiveness in Tucker as he moves her into the family home to care for her. They are two peas in a pod and they slowly become comfortable around each other and the love begins to blossom. He cares for and nutures her, something that she has never experienced, she looks at him, but especially looks beyond his bum leg and this is something that he has never experienced.

This story was truly moving as they blossom for each other. He awakens desires in her as he shows her how a lady should be treated and how wonderful sex can be. She accepts him how he is and he begins to hope that he may actually have a future worth living.

Of course Dex is not quite ready to let go of his so called property and is still around to cause some upsets. This only brings out more protectiveness on Tucker's behalf.

I really enjoyed reading this story. It was an honest to goodness, straight from the heart love story. It was fast paced and I was kept entertained from start to finish. Even though it is part of a series, it could be a read alone, but I love how series go together, love how we really get to know all the characters throughout. I would rate this story a 5/5 and look forward to reading the next one.

Reflections Review,
just in case you missed it the first time.

Professor Bridget Ross is jogging with her dog Daisy when Daisy becomes enthralled with another dog. Lotus, a Rodesian Ridgeback is entangled with Daisy and this caused Bridget to fall helplessly to the ground as Daisy's leash is around her waist. She always needs the security of having her hands free. She won't let Connor touch her when he offers aid. She is actually rude to him " don't touch me." Her demons run deep.

She sees him again and apologizes and offers to buy him coffee. Theirs is a slow moving relationship. He is a beautiful artist that is working as a janitor as he has his own demons that won't allow him to pursue his art as a career.

Together they try to form a relationship. She lets him closer than she has anyone else. He makes her feel things and allows her to try to come to grips with her past. He has dominant tendancies and urges and she has always had fantasies about being dominated, but she fights them at every turn and thinks it makes her a dirty girl. No body should like to be held down and spanked. She needs Connor in her life to show her that what she is feeling is okay and that she is normal.

Connor however, also needs her help so that he can put his own insecurities behind him and realize that the life that he is meant to live is also normal and totally allowable.

I thought that the chemistry between the two of them was sparking, I loved the fact that Connor was a bit younger that Bridget, it makes them seem so much more vulnerable. I also like that Bridget was dealing with issues at the school involving herself and her student Skylar. I didn't like how she kept it from Connor, but I appreciated that it was part of her character, it made her much deeper to me. I mean really because of her past trauma it only makes sense that she trust him in baby steps.

I thoroughly enjoyed all parts of this story from the sappy love story to the hot steamy love scenes. The plot line was well done and did not totally take place in the bedroom. I thought both the story line and the secondary characters were very well fleshed out. It was an easy read. I would rate it 5/5.

I was given the option of having Elene write a little blurb for me on my topic of choice.
My topic..... Poly or Menage Relationships,
This was her response. I loved it. Hope you do too.

Why Being Poly is More Natural Than We Give It Credit For

Exploring BDSM has exposed many notions and pre-conceived ideas that I didn’t even know that I had. It has turned my perceptions and stereotypes on their head and showed me that I have led a sheltered and naïve life in many ways. What I was completely unprepared for, though, was to have my notions of dominance, feminism and polyamory challenged and ultimately overturned.

I grew up in a standard nuclear household. I was also raised a Southern Baptist. Needless to say, I grew up with a lot of Christian guilt, but also with the inherent and unquestioned notion that monogamy was the only "natural" mating structure. All of my family members and all of my friends are in monogamous relationships. I have been in one for 22 years.

I was familiar with polygamy. In my youth, I was searching for a place to belong and studied many of the world religions … Zen, Islam, Judaism, and Taoism. I’ve read many of the holy books, but the two most fascinating were the Qu’ran and the Tao. As an aside, Muslims of the world follow the practices of the Hadith, a book written by men after the death of Mohammed, not the Qu’ran itself which is a very enlightened book that grants women rights, property and self-determination – I’ve read it cover-to-cover three times. I did several research papers on a woman’s role in Islam during my radical feminist days, but I digress.

My point is that polyamorous relationships exist and have served various purposes in human history, but they tend to be treated as the exception rather than the rule. Monogamy is put forth as the inviolable standard despite the fact that the Bible is full of poly relationships, the Qu’ran too. Of note, however, is that it is put out there in the Qu’ran as a balm to the widows or a social alm rather than a natural mating option. I decided to do a little research and what I found was surprising to me.

With regard to monogamy, this is actually in the minority in the natural world. Social monogamy is found in a few species most notably gibbons, swans and wolves. The number of species that are both socially and sexually monogamous is even smaller – 3% of the animal world. The reality is that many bonded pairs accept extra-bond partners into their relationship for sexual purposes. Sound familiar anyone?? Does to me. So, here is an example in the natural world of bonded pairs "playing with others." Cross that off the BDSM is abnormal list.

With regard to polyamory, this is actually the majority in nature. There are three different forms:

Polygny – A single male with multiple females. Think lions, horses, hippopotamuses … anything harem like.

Polyandry – A single female with multiple males. Examples include hyena, marmosets, Galapagos hawks and bees

Seasonal breeders – Generally speaking, animals that mate with multiple partners in a seasonal cycle. Examples include dogs, cats and tigers.

So, here again, my notions have been upturned. Polyamory is not just natural it’s the virtual norm in the greater animal world. So, why is it so stigmatized among humans? My personal take on all of this has to do with the level of effort it takes to raise children in human society.

For a while, I was toying around with a book about the role of virginity in today’s society, but came to quickly realize it has been done several times already and abandoned the project. I did learn some very interesting things though. For instance, in our hunter/gatherer days humans were not monogamous and virginity was irrelevant. It had no intrinsic value. If you came into your marriage sans a hymen no one cared.

Virginity didn’t become an issue until humans settled into an agrarian society. Suddenly, it took lots of effort to build a home and feed the family. Long story short, men wanted to be assured that their blood, sweat and tears were going to feed the product of their own sperm and not Larry’s next door. So, they wanted a woman hymen-intacta and they wanted her monogamous. Witness the birth of the modern, monogamous movement.

This is all fascinating to me because what I’m learning as I explore the world of BDSM and all it encompasses is that there are examples for every aspect of it in the natural world. Monogamy, polyamory, masturbation, homosexuality, fellatio, cunnilingus and even sexual fetishes all happen naturally. Don’t believe me … check out
Animal Sexual Behavior on Wikipedia.

I don’t consider myself religious. All of my reading and exploration of the world’s religions caused me to actually reject formalized religion as a whole and adopt faith instead. I do believe in a creator and I don’t believe that the world we live in is without purpose. It was a true comfort for me to realize that there is a parallel in nature for all of the various mating constructs found in BDSM.

So, to all of my poly people around the world … more power to you. To my Domme’s … enjoy. To my naturally submissive men … no worries, it’s just as normal as anything else. To the fetishists … whatever gets your rocks off. And to the rest of us … let’s take off the judgment goggles, so we can all live as naturally as possible.

This is the second story in the Preyfinders series. Here we get to meet a few more characters and catch up a little bit with Jadd and Brittany from Precious Sacrifice.

This segment follows a few different story lines. At the beginning we are introduced to Talia, she is Brittany's sister and she is desparately searching for her. Brittany seems to have disappeared and Talia wants to know where she is. Brask is the sexy alien that she keeps running into and who seems to know something about her sister. He keeps trying to zap her and erase her memories of their meetings but she keeps hunting him. She can sense him.

Stom has been awarded a Pet for his many years of good service. Unfortunately he has been married before and it is this true long of Nasskia that has him fighting this new gift. Her name is Willow, she has some serious bad guys after her. Stom and Willow have some serious sex as they start to form a bond and as Stom struggles to keep Willow safe and away from danger. Willow lives with her cousin Ally and feels it is her duty to protect Ally.

The evil forces, Bak-lal are alive and well and in control of some interesting Nerve Chewers that they use to take control of the humans they have captured. They want Ally and Willow as they believe them to have some witch-like powers.

The hunt is on. Evil is looking for the girls, Stom is desparate to protect the one that he is starting to feel something for, and Talia is also searching for Brask as he has the answers about her sister.

In true Cari Silverwood style the story is gripping on every page. The plot speeds along nicely and obstacles are thrown up constantly. Evil has quite a few tricks to show and it is certainly a race to protect everyone. If Evil does win it could be the end of Earth. Suspense, drama, good vs evil and some hot steamy sex thrown in. Definately all the makings of a good story. And to think there are so many unanswered questions at the end, makes you really want to get the next installment, and soon. I would rate this story 5/5.

Jadd Tekk is an Igrakk Warrior, and he is in a world of trouble. That is the funny thing about breaking the rules, it usually leads to some type of punishment and boy this one is a doozy. He has been assigned to be a Preyfinder in order to out whether humans are suitable to become Hunt trophies and ultimately Pets. He has been ordered to bond with a human but to stop the process before the final submission is formed. This promises to be extremely painful for both Jadd and the female chosen.

Her name is Brittany. She is being attacked and he rescues her. He is able to introduce her to the drug without her knowledge and the start of the bond is instant and deep. This is truly great writing on Cari's part. A little bit of alien mixed up with some mind control and then some super great sex. Throwing in some funky body markings as her body begins to change, it begins to develop markings in intimate spots that mark her as Jadd's Pet.

I thought this was a great start to what promises to be a great series. I enjoyed the emotional journey that Jadd needs to follow as he struggles with his feelings for Brittany and weighs them against what he has been trained to do for years. Follow orders, complete assignments. It promises to be an intersting story as these two new lovers complete their journey. I am dying to learn more about these warriors and the humans that they have chosen to belong to them. I would rate this story a 4/5.

Training Drew (Twisted & Tied, #2)

Training Drew

Blue Kincaid

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I must say that this is the second in the series Twisted & Tied with Five Weeks in December being the first installment. I really enjoyed that story and was looking forward to reading more by this newly discovered (by me) author. I am glad to say that she did not disappoint me. I enjoyed it just as much.

Twisted & Tied is a BDSM club that Drew Minola finds herself at one night participating in the annual submissive auction. She expects her date Chad will buy her. However, Sebastion Falk has his eye on her and soon she hears the word SOLD and Chad is nowhere to be seen. Sebastion has bought her!

This calls out to all her BDSM secret fantasies and she eagerly goes home with him, hoping to discover more about herself and the world that fascinates her.

"What exactly did you buy when you paid all that money for me? Do I have to sleep with you?" She asks nervously.

"You don't have to no. I'm hoping that you want to."

"I do. Very much."

Sebastian is an amazing Dom and sets out to give her an experience that she will always remember and cherish. He points out the many rules of conduct between Dom and sub and shows her the meaning and feeling of true submission. He is an expert of Shibari and ties her up. He makes her ask for a spanking in a truly erotic scene.

I thought these two characters were hot hot hot. I could not get enough of them. I loved the way that Sebastian was counting out the rules as he explained them to her. He was so sweet and caring and then so very Dom like as he brought her to countless orgasms. She is living her dream. She thinks " she owned a clit and even didn't know how to use it the way he did."

Their growing relationship was just perfect for her, it shows her how a real man treats his woman. I loved every page. Now of course we have not heard the last of the scorned lover Chad and he comes back to try to cause some trouble. I have enjoyed both books so far by this author and I find myself eagerly awaiting the next segment in the Twisted & Tied series. I would rate this story a 5/5.

Out of Control (Untamed, #2)

This is the second story in this six part series. The first part Untamed left us with a cliffhanger ending as Reagan lies in a hospital bed after a drug overdose and denies knowing Dare Wilde to her family. This of course is done to protect him from her father. But Dare does not realize this and he leaves the country.

Three years later Reagan is in Paris working for an Art Studio and she meets up with Dare again by chance. He has not forgiven her for breaking his heart and will barely talk to her. She is determined that she will not let go this time and uses everything that she has to spend time with him again. Dare is the only one that makes her feel alive and the only thing that she wants is to be with him.

I was quite anxious to read this story I found the first part to be very gripping. Reagan is the poor little rich girl to the extreme. She has it all, the drug and alcohol dependancies, the usage of sex to blur the lines and the out of control parents. Her father is still trying to pull all the cards, both with financial support, verbal abuse and emotional blackmail. I loved how positively evil his character is made out to be. Her mother is vapid and her siblings remind me of little Stepford Wives.

Reagan has a tonne of spirit and we witness more of that spunk in this chapter of the series as she sets out to show Dare how much he really means to her and how sorry she is for what happened before. She thinks that since she is an ocean away from her controlling family that she is able to live her life the way that she wants to. NOT! After another surprise ending, I find myself once again anxiously awaiting the next part. Amazing story. 5/5 stars by me.

Sliding Into Home

More than anything, Arizona Condors first baseman Greg Bartlesby wants to make his own name in the big leagues. Too bad being the son of MLB legend Jake "Big Man" Bartlesby makes that impossible. Even worse? His failed attempts to differentiate himself from his old man frequently land him in legal trouble. His latest brush with the law brings him in contact with an attorney he’s met before — as a dancer at the club where he was arrested for protecting her.

Jenn Simpson isn’t a stripper—not that she can convince her idiot client her twin is the one doing the dancing. When Greg offers her sister a job at his father’s Foundation, Jenn is the one who accepts. She soon discovers she likes the work—and her boss—more than she should. The closer they get, the more important it becomes for her to convince Greg she’s not who he thinks. And when his father is hospitalized, compelling Greg to fast-track his leap to the majors by capitalizing on Big Jake’s fame, it might be too late to come clean.

Jenn waited for the judge to exit the courtroom and then did the same. She barely noticed Greg was a step behind her.

When she realized he followed her, halfway down the corridor, she stopped and turned. He was watching her closely, his face nearly as severe as the judge’s had been. She didn’t like the scrutiny. She didn’t much like him, either, for that matter. He talked too much. "What?"

"You’re a much better stripper than you are a lawyer."

"I’m not—never mind." This spoiled man-child’s opinion of her was of no consequence whatsoever. "Things would have gone much more smoothly if you knew when to shut your big mouth."

"Or if you were as familiar with law as you are with the pole."

Letting him think she danced was one thing. Listening to him insult her sister’s current livelihood was another. "You think you’re so much better? Have you forgotten you play with balls for a living?"

With that, she walked away. Folks with more money than sense always rubbed her wrong, this one more than most.

He swore, and soon his footsteps sounded behind her. He put a hand on her shoulder. "I’m sorry, Jade. My comment was uncalled for."

She stopped and shrugged him off. She wasn’t about to apologize, even if her comment, too, was out of line. He started it. "You have a right to be testy. I certainly didn’t hold up my end of the bargain."

"To get me off?" One corner of his mouth lifted. "You sure didn’t."

Ooh, that half-smile was appealing. Too appealing. She stepped back, away from temptation. "Judge Troxler is tough."

"Believe me, I noticed."

Jenn paused. She remembered the look on his face when the judge had mentioned he should volunteer with his father’s foundation. "If you don’t mind my asking, what does your father’s foundation do?"

"A little bit of everything." He shrugged. "But the main focus is helping underprivileged kids."

And that had him out of sorts? Growing up with four siblings and an out-of-work father,
she’d been an underprivileged kid. They’d practically lived on sandwiches made from cheap white bread and pale yellow government cheese. "You have a problem with helping those less fortunate than yourself?"

"Of course not." His look was undecipherable. "I just don’t do well with kids. Can’t relate." "I’d think kids would love the chance to meet a famous ballplayer."

"I’m not famous. My father is."

And that galled him. It was evident in his clenched jaw and drawn-up shoulders. Against her

better judgment, she found herself wanting to boost his ego. Since she’d had a few minutes to read up on Greg Bartlesby, first baseman, before court, she knew exactly how to go about it. "If you’re as good as the sportswriters say, you won’t be in the minors for long."

"Four years and counting," he grumbled. "And when they get wind of this, it’ll probably be another four."

"They who? The press?"

"MLB officials. Dad says no one’ll call me up to the majors until they have proof I’m mature enough to handle it." He scowled. "Right now, my ‘wild’ behavior makes me too much of a risk."

Far be it from her to point out that brawling—even in defense of a woman—wasn’t all that mature. Still, newscasts were full of pro athletes arrested for offenses far worse. "Why don’t you use your community service sentence to show who you really are to whoever you need to show?"

He looked thoughtful. "That idea’s not half bad."

"That’s what I thought."

Before she realized what he was going to do, Greg swooped in to capture her in a bear hug.

He was all muscle, a solid wall of yum, and her body molded itself to him effortlessly. She tipped her head up to look into his eyes, the color of the summer sky right before a thunderstorm. Blue so clear and deep she could lose herself.

She was so caught up in the moment that the passerby registered as no more than a shadowy shape—until he stopped, turned and stared. Her boss. Mr. Stull didn’t say anything, but his disapproving frown spoke volumes.

Caught in a clinch with a client? Oh God. How embarrassing. Even if the contact had started out purely innocent, her response made it inappropriate.

She squirmed out of Greg’s arms and took a few steps back. "Mr. Stull! What a surprise!"

"No doubt." He pursed his lips. "Shall I assume you were merely celebrating the case’s positive outcome?"

Jenn grimaced. "Not exactly."

Mr. Stull tugged on his tie. "What do you mean, ‘Not exactly’?"

"We ran into a snag. Judge Troxler heard the case."

Greg stepped forward. "That woman is not a randy old goat." He shook his head, bemused. "Immune to my charm, too."

Her boss’ face lightened two shades. "Dare I ask what happened?"

"Nothing good." Jenn hung her head, ashamed. In less than thirty minutes, she’d let down the defendant, the client and her boss. Not a stellar way to start the week.

"It was my fault, not hers." Greg’s hand settled on her back. "I let my temper get the best of me and mouthed off to the judge."

Doing her best to ignore the way his fingers burned through her cotton shirt, she met her boss’ eyes again. "I failed to adapt. I’m to blame."

"I’m sure there’s plenty of blame to go around." Mr. Stull’s expression was sour. "Jake Bartlesby will not be pleased."

Greg’s palm flattened against her back. "Leave my father to me."

Excerpt (2):"Gruyère, Camembert, brie or cheddar?"

Leave it to the rich man to keep his fridge stocked with expensive French cheeses.

Sometimes she wondered if he had more money than sense. Or maybe he just really liked cheese. "Is it Wisconsin cheddar?"

He thumped a brick of white cheddar cheese onto the counter. "All-American girl, are you?"

"Mm-hmm." She eyed the solid lump of cheese. "I assume you have a cheese grater."

He hummed Tom Petty’s "American Girl" as he fitted his fancy food processor with a shredding attachment, cut a couple chunks off the brick of cheese and threw them down the chute. Seconds later, he presented her with a bowlful of shreds. Perfect. Just like Greg.

Excerpt (3):" … You promised me dinner." She dug her fingers into his knotted shoulder muscle and started to work out the kinks. His bat dropped to the ground, wood thunking against concrete. "I’m hungry."

A low, guttural sound—could have been groan or growl—rumbled from his throat as he whirled to face her. He settled his hands on her waist and hauled her against him. "Me, too."

Then he captured her lips.

Surprised by his move, but not really, Jenn did more than let herself be kissed. She kissed him back. Enthusiastically and without reservation. She’d spent the better part of a month pretending not to be attracted to Greg, and she was tired of faking it. Time to press her advantage.

Their tongues tangled with a ferocity fueled by weeks of heightened awareness. Every shared glance, every accidental brush of their fingertips poured into the experience.

When she pulled away, they were both breathless and his arousal pressed into her stomach.

Looking as dazed as she felt, he stroked her chin with his thumb. "Whaddaya say we call out for pizza?"

She leaned in to press her lips to his. That it put the rest of her parts in alignment with his was a bonus, one she savored. He quivered when her lips brushed his ear. "I say, ‘Mangia!’"

This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.
Greg Bartlesby is a gifted baseball player, so was his father Jake. So much so that Greg has always felt that he is living in his father's shadow, that he never achieves anything on his own merit. Greg acts like your typical rich playboy, he parties hard and he enjoys a variety of different women. On this night he gets into an altercation at a bar protecting a dancer named Jade. Imagine his surprise when said dancer becomes his attorney to help deal with the issue.
Jenn is the attorney, and Jessica her twin is the dancer. No matter how many times she tries to tell this to Greg he is stuck in his belief that Jenn is the dancer and after time she no longer tries to correct him. Greg is sentanced to community hours at his father's charity organization and Jenn becomes his assistant.
Soon it becomes apparent that Greg is not just a pretty face and he and Jenn embark on a relationship. Oh, oh secrets are being kept , identities are confused. This will not bode well for a long term romance. She means to tell him, really she does but life just gets in the way.
Jenn and Greg are great together, he allows her to have some fun, to live her life a little bit, and she in turn reigns him in, while at the same time strengthening the fragile relationship that he has with his father. The sex between them is frequent and quite steamy. They are both seriously attracted to each other and enjoy each other sexually very often.
I thought that this was a great read. It was definately a fun filled story and the pages flowed nicely into one another. I felt angst for Jenn as she waits and waits for the perfect moment to confess she is not really the dancer and we all know it is going to cause a large blow up. Greg does an awesome job of stepping up and becoming a great business man while still keeping baseball his number one priority. I don't know why but I am a sucker for a good sports story. The heros are typically just so very yummy to read about. It was a great clean story and I enjoyed it from the very first page. I would rate this story a 5/5. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

The Payment Series
I have read quite a few stories by Cassandra and I have loved them all. They are mostly light, easy to read love stories with some funky sex thrown in. This was going to be a completed different type of story. I could see that just from the blurbs. I was excited to be part of this change in venue.

This story was broken down into three parts Prized, Possessed and Purgatory or as I found out could also be termed Before, During and After.

Catrina Carter has gotten herself into a little bit of a pickle, she has amassed a large debt and needs some help. She goes to Debt Management Associated and basically sells herself into sexual slavery for one year. Raoul at the agency is in charge of her "training." This definately starts of with a bang. There are OTK spankings with both his hand and belt, some flogging, corner time and then plenty of time spent working on her oral skills. Then she is auctioned off to become the property of Jared whom she must refer to as Sir.

Jared and Catrina share an interesting arrangement. He takes his responsibilities very serious and he means to teach her how to be financially responsible. The means to accomplish this are simple. Many, many, many spankings, sometimes both morning and night. Also more and more oral skills need to be learned and practised. He allows all of his friends to come over to participate in teaching her the lesson and makes her repeat her mantra "I am being punished because I can't control my spending." Anal sex is big also and again Catrina is expected to service both Jared and whom ever else he decrees at the time. Jared is a big believer in sharing and does so on a daily basis, it could be men at work, friends or once it was even the cooks in the restaurant they were eating in. Catrina's main purpose in live becomes as a human receptacle to whomever and where ever Jared wants it to be.

This is definately not your average love story. There was no vaginal intercourse in the entire story. There was lots and lots of anal sex with again, lots of different men, all intended to punish Catrina for her spending habits. Jared is definately a genius at his position and uses a variety of spanking implements to help him out. Floggers, canes, paddles and birch were a few, also making an appearance were plenty of clips, chili pepper and of course my favorite ginger.

Even without love being involved I found this a very gripping story. It was not overly dark, she never really got hurt, just a little bruised, welted and reddened. It focussed mostly on plenty of spankings and some humiliation. I mean really she never knew what was going to be expected of her, how many spankings she was going to endure, with what insturment or even at whose hands. When she allows herself to mouth off, the spankings just seem to get longer and longer.

I found myself enjoying it and eager to read more. I wanted to know if she would take her lessons to heart, and what would happen after the year was over? Does she continue on with her schooling or does she revert back to type? Do they really have any feeling for one another?

This story was completey out side the box and my normal comfort zone. I loved that Cassandra Carr made me think. She really makes the reader pay attention, scared that you might miss something in this story that has captured your interest and secured your thoughts. I was up late one night reading and then early the next morning to finish it. Well done. I would rate this a 5/5.
I had read and posted a reveiw on Reflections as while ago, April 4th, for all of you that want to go back and look. I was moved by this story. The characters had so much depth to them both. It is one of those stories that stay with you for awhile, You know the type, the ones that make you wait a day or two before picking up the next book because they just won't leave your head. Anyhow, I digress, shortly after reading it, I was asked to take part in the blog tour and of course I said YES!, so here I am offering all of you guys a chance to win a copy of this book. All you need to do is comment here on the blog or on my Facebook page. Date of draw is Tuesday May 20, 2014, at that time I will repost my review and also as a special bonus I have a little post that has been written by Elene Sallinger herself. The topic of her post? Well, SEX of course.!!
Good Luck.

Who says Heat can't be Sweet?

Welcome to the World of Smart and Sexy -- Contemporary Romances with passion and heart.

Can the love of a good man bring you back to life? Dr. Liam Mason wants to try...

Madison Spencer is a focused medical student, concerned only with work and paying the bills. She hides her beauty and once passionate spirit behind a quiet plain Jane facade. Since she was drugged, stripped, and photographed by a vengeful ex, she has stayed away from men and kept her heart and body safe. But the loneliness is becoming more than she can bear.

When heart-stoppingly gorgeous Dr. Liam Mason walks into her world, she knows she's in trouble. The attraction is instant, but Madison expects her past to be a deal-breaker.

Instead, Liam offers to bring her back to life with passion and pleasure. No love, no commitment, just straight-up fun. Madison's sensible mind resists, but her body is willing. Together the young doctors explore days and nights of pleasure, slowly becoming much more than bedmates.

Deep inside, each wonders if they've found their perfect match. But their fears threaten to destroy the world they're building together.

Will they each be strong enough and brave enough to risk their hearts to have it all?

Please note: this title contains adult sexual content and is not intended for readers under 18 years old.

This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.

Studying to be a nurse takes up all of Madison Spencer's time. She studies hard and is working hard at school. And since the incident a few years ago with an ex-boyfriend she dresses in loose baggy clothes and avoids all interaction with the opposite sex. Her best friend and roommate Chloe is all that she has. Until she sees Liam. She is instantly attracted to him and finds herself feeling things that she never thought to feel again.

Dr. Liam Nelson works at the hospital where Madison is studying and they end up spending alot of time together. He starts a relationship with her that is supposed to be based soley on fun and living. There will be no other expectations, just to enjoy each day. He kisses her and they enjoy each other. He lets her take charge of the relationship and allows her to set the pace for the kissing and whatever comes next. It is exactly what she needs to regain her confidence in herself and the male species.

She tells him her deepest secrets and he continues to love her. She grows through her work at the hospital learning things both on a medical and personal level. It is great to see her finally open up after her devatating crisis and finally start reliving her life. Her insecurities do threaten to come up and interfere in her life and you must read the story to see how this plays out.

I thought this was a beautifuly love story. It was simply written and very easy to read. It was believable and had me eagerly turning the pages. There was lots of loving and the sex scenes were well done and not overdone. These characters were deep and their relationship was built on more than just sex. When they experience problems I found myself crying with them and hoping for a happy ever after ending. I really enjoyed all aspects of this story and would love to read more from this author. I would rate this story a solid 5/5.

Victoria Green and Jinseu Reese

This is the first part in a seven part series.

"I need to get laid." This is how this story starts out. I was intrigued and happy to read on. Reagan McKingley is the main character. She is a little bit of a wild child. Admitting that her bed is never empty , alcohol and pills are big parts of her life and she views her sex life as the ONLY thing that she truly has control over and not her parents. She goes to the school her parents have picked out, wears the clothes they like and also socializes with the men they want her too. Well, most of the time.

At a bar one night with her parental approved date she comes across a stranger at the bar. He catches her eye, but he does not seem interested in her which of course spikes her interest more. She finally convinces him to have a drink with her. His name is Dare. Appropriate.

"What would you like?" he says.

"I'm not on the menu."

Of course, he takes a chance on her. She sleeps over, he actually makes her feel things. He makes her think about things, he makes her almost human.

His life growing up is the polar opposite of hers. He was from the wrong side of town, with a druggie mother and a criminal in jail for a father. He tries so hard to be responsible for his mom and siblings. The only thing that Reagan is responsible for is what to drink or what pills to take.

This story is so very deep. She is so zombie like before him as she barely exists. He opens up her mind and heart and makes her feel things.

He says "Don't take your pills, Just for tonight, let me be enough Ree."

How can you not love this guy. But alas, she is so programmed to be the perfect daughter, and her father is running for mayor. She needs to be even more perfect, to do only what her parents want her to be.

I felt so deeply for both of these characters. I was eagerly turning the pages to find who was going to prevail, Dad or Dare. They are both so very strong characters and each has a large hold on Reagan. Just whose hold is stronger? Who will be able to sway her the hardest? Will she be able to break free of her family and truly experience love and allow herself to breathe or will she be sucked into the family drama again? Looks like I need to wait until part two. I would rate this story 5/5 or higher if I possibly could.
